I'm going to murder the person who told me I didn't need to buy the game to play the beta.

Fail release time. Just as I feared...
Now I gotta hope I will be able to play on the 31st, due to download times.

Game is a bit buggy, but it is quite fun once you get into a working server.

Woo hoo RO2: HoS Beta finally finished downloading a few minutes ago.
The server browser is EXTREMELY laggy for me, but I guess I can count myself lucky to not be amongst those whose game crashes at the serverbrowser.
Joined a match, died, lost the round, all in 5 minutes, Fritz has earned this victory!
Lunchtime now, gonna play for real later.

Only then did the elves begin to suspect that the dwarves were not bringing any Amontillado.

Got any friends that are in the beta? Then you could just use the "Join game" option of Steam.

I pre-ordered the standard edition, so no beta for me. I guess I'll content myself with watching other people play.

I found a workaround for the server browser crash:
Open the server browser, alt tab to the desktop, wait for a few minutes, alt tab back in, everything works (at least for me it did).

It stops lagging for me when I wait a while ingame, guess it just takes forever to update the list.
While it is updating, the mouse cursor reacts maybe every 3 seconds or so.
EDIT:Lol, if I alttab out of the game while the server list is loading, it crashes. Better stay ingame...

You can now upgrade your standard edition to the DE without canceling your preorder. Just goto the steam store and buy the upgrade.

We drag children off the streets, chain them up in the basement and whip them until they produce normal maps by hand. You know, the usual way.

It is really fun, though I don't like all of the maps so far (I really don't like the countdown mode map)

I really did not like Fallen Fighters when I played it (the snowy map with the big empty place in the middle), full of campers.
Apartments in territory mode is fun, though.
Did not play the 3rd map yet, heard it is a tank map though.

Okay, I just upgraded. Now I just need to hope that it will all work for me. If it does, I'll have to join you guys sometime.

Three new maps coming "today" (whatever that may mean, in the next 24 hours)
Quote
Barracks – a mix of close-quarter and medium-range combat, sure to be a fan favorite
Quote
Grain Elevator – the iconic battle site in the south of Stalingrad featuring long range infantry fighting outdoors and room to room close quarters combat inside
Quote
Red October Factory – night-time fighting in the factory ruins on an epic scale with infantry and tanks fighting side by side
