Where are you planning on ordering these parts shadow? I'm tempted to start putting together some items in a cart to get an idea of the price, and then getting suggestions for certain parts.

my game keeps crashing as it loads, (i have all the expansion packs including the apartment life) and i am hearing that it might possibly be a custom content problem? how do i remove custom content?

why was it crashing every two hours
Still have no idea. Just took the whole thing apart and put it back together again. Probably was some badly seated RAM or something...

I think I figured out why the slot for my graphics card was loose, and always causng problems. I just found out that the screw I had been using to keep the case closed, was the screw that held my graphics card in place.

Okay, so, it's looking like:

Caviar Hard Drive 1.5TB

DDR3-1333 RAM from Corsair

Motherboard

i7 860 Processor 2.8GHz

GeForce GTX 470

Coolermaster 212 fan

Acer 21" 1920 x 1080 Monitor

Corsair 750W power supply

DVD/CD reader

Shiny new case

Also, can someone verify that all these parts will:

A. Work with each other
B. Be the only things I need to purchase
C. Fit inside the case

??

Okay, so, it's looking like:

BUNDLE DEAL
ASUS SABERTOOTH 55i mobo
Intel i7 860 processor
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

GeForce GTX 470

Coolermaster 212 fan

Acer 21" 1920 x 1080 Monitor

Corsair 750W power supply

DVD/CD reader

Shiny new case

I also still need to find a 64-bit copy of Windows 7. The ones on Newegg appear to all be OEM.

Also, can someone verify that all these parts will:

A. Work with each other
B. Be the only things I need to purchase
C. Fit inside the case

??

A:Yes, as far as I can see
B:Base parts required are mobo, ram, harddrive, case, powersupply, cpu, cpu fan and monitor, so yes
C:As far as I can see, there no reason they shouldnt fit.

These aren't necessary but I would have loved them when I built mine. Zipties, use them to tie excess cords together and increase airflow to keep your expensive parts running like they should.

And one more thing, since your ordering a LOT of parts, expect at least one to have gone through harder experiences while shipping then others. whether it be only a small crack in the case or a trashed graphics card, something is bound to be broken, if not, you're one lucky fellow.

What's wrong with OEM?

EDIT: Also, your case is only 3 inches wider than your videocard, which could be problematic if the PCI-e slots on your motherboard are both in line with drive bays. It'll probably be fine though. Your power supply only has one 12v rail, which is unusual for a 750w power supply, but it's got good reviews so it'll probably be alright. Your motherboard doesn't appear to have any IDE connections, so beware if you were planning on salvaging an IDE harddrive or CD/DVD/card reader drive from your old computer. Other than that, looks good.

There are far better cases for about the same price, you could get much better airflow for that 470.

A single rail with a high rating is usually better than more than multiple rails.

NZXT Tempest Evo

Cooler Master HAF 922

Antec 900

All these cases provide great airflow and will fit your components, I own the Tempest and my video card (4870) is the same size as yours and it fits with 2 inches to spare.

There are also cheaper ones that cool just as well but they only come with half their fans and after you buy the fans they cast as much (or more) as the ones I posted.

Okay now I'm really confused

Why is it that all the ones you posted are "mid size" but are the same size or bigger than the "full tower" that I posted

Broadway doesn't seem to be a very good case manufacture look at those reviews compared to the ones I posted, and I don't think that that case is a gaming case anyways. (As in having really good airflow to keep your video card(s) and CPU cool when you game.)

These are full tower cases meant for gaming:

Antec 1200

Cooler Master HAF 932

Cooler Master Cosmos 1000

Thermaltake Armor Plus

Thanks Barb and Shadow and others for your help. My laptop is out of warranty, taking a full desktop back and forth across the Atlantic and between houses doesn't seem practical, and I want to be able to play games now as soon as possible, so I'm probably going to get me one of these. While one friend tells me his Acer has lasted well, another says bad things about their reliability, so I wonder if anyone has any comments on the decision? I've looked around for other laptops at similar prices and it's a brilliant deal, so I'm reluctant to abandon it.

My mom has an Acer laptop, it isn't too bad but the touchpad for the mouse is terrible, it will randomly click and scroll it in multiple directions when you're using it.

So here's my current set-up, which is missing a Cooler Master CPU Cooler that apparently is out of stock now, and doesn't have a keyboard, mouse, or speakers yet. It's sitting at about $1100 right now, and I don't really want to spend much more. Any suggestions are very welcome.

The 2 Acer laptops I had both broke after 6 months.

The first I shut one day and the screen broke. Didn't slam it or anything.
The second had a part inside come loose so the cord wouldn't plug in. Sent it in, paid like $100 or some bullshit, got it back, less than 24 hours later it's harddrive was completely fucked.

For comparison, my previous laptop lasted 4 years.
