RE: ZM sourcecode

I've spoken to Angry Lawyer this week. He is still extremely busy on the job front, but will hopefully be around once or twice a month. He is of course a bit out of the loop, and doesn't have time to do a lot of forum reading etc. Hence, I want to round up the options we have and summarize their status and whether they look like they would work out.
Of course, ZMI has quite a head start, and if /dev/null joins as well the choice seems obvious. It would be healthy for the continuity of the project to have more than one programmer. In general I don't think programming skill will be a problem, but I don't have a clear view of how familiar current or incoming team members are with stuff like compiling/fixing Linux builds, using version control (eg. SVN), and other non-programming things that tend to be quite important.
Though ZMI does not strictly need ZM's sourcecode, it would probably save quite a bit of time. So this is the status in that regard. Things are moving, if at a leisurely stroll with no known time of arrival.

I can live with that, I'm quite enjoying the game in its current state, but will gladly take some improvements, you have no idea how excited I am that it appears to be continuing! I was worried for those weeks of purgatory. Also, it being put on Steam couldn't have been done any sooner, it seems to be helping as far as numbers are concerned. It's nice to have an active community, and it's nice to see more and more Tony Swans around. That said, I try extra hard to make sure they have a good time when I ZM, I want them to know what kinds of amazing shit can happen in this mod.

Concerning SVNs, I feel quite confident in being able to set one up after having spoken to some people about it.
As for the rest of things, I can't really comment on.
Nice to hear lawyer has a solid job now though.

Is there any chance there will be any future work on the ZM code - by the ZMI Team - as an update to ZM itself (purely for bug fixes, of course)?

I've worked with tanner for a long time now, and he works well alone.

Good, it seems my first theory of him floating in an alternate universe was incorrect. You right on the whole "Not necessary but would save time" thing. Hopefully Tanner will get it.

If it was the first ZMI release, then that could happen. It shouldn't be done as some kind of semi-official ZM release, the projects should be kept separate.

I don't know how your theory began but I suggest you stay away from this project. I am serious, I've never trusted you to begin with and so haven't the others, since you've been lying from the beginning. Seriously, I'd expect this kind of stupidity from someone with your mental caliber to come up with something as ridiculous as this just because I don't want someone's help.

I like the idea, I'd give it a try.

Tanner I have quite a bit of respect for you for pulling this project out of the abyss, but I don't why you have to be so harsh to Rukus. So maybe he is a dick, but he was still supporting you.

That's the thing. He is "supporting" Tanner? What does that mean? What would happen if Tanner didn't have Rukus's support?
EDIT: I'll tell you. Absolutely nothing. Tanner would keep doing what he's doing and life would go on as usual.

Rukus is "supporting" Tannerbondy by trying pry his way into the dev team even though he has no useful skills.
He probably does have good intentions, he probably cares more about the mod surviving then taking over. That does not change the fact that he is fucking annoying and has been told repeatedly to stop trying.

This.
Also, he insults the old devs. Not ok.

Oh, and subtle hints weren't getting through to Rukus.
Tanner is just putting it out there even more.

Would this not be a good use for say, /dev/null?

Ignoring the pointless posts, what I got from the above posts was bugfixing zm/ep:1 or something. Or am I confused.
So what I meant was, would this not be a good thing for dev to do until zm:ob was more fleshed out and he could do something on that.
That is if I am understanding correctly.

TGB suggests that we should bug fix EP1 ZM while working on OB ZM. It can show the players that there is a continuation happening.

So my thinking was correct, so if we ask dev to do that, you can carry on working solo on OBZM.

That's a good idea. It'd also make the current version of ZM more stable as you take your time to work on the OB version.
